Minecraft のワールドジェネレータ（開始時に地形を生成する機能）がアップデートされるらしい。最近の地形生成関係の変更点はジャングルのバイオーム追加だったが、今回は全体にバイオームの分布などが変化するようだ。

Minecraft World Generator Update

There have been three main problems we have wanted to address:

• Too large oceans
• Too uneven/random biome placement
• Not enough variation

The solution to these problems have been,

• Tweaks to add more islands and checks to avoid huge oceans
• Biomes have been put into four main categories: snow-covered, cold, medium, and dry/warm. Biomes will avoid getting placed next to a biome that is too different to itself (sometimes this still happens, but it’s very rare now and not all over the place)
• We’ve added a whole bunch of new biomes…
• … and most biomes have uncommon/rare variations that you may run into
• We’ve also added a bunch of new terrain features, such as new flowers and trees

私たちが前から扱いたかった3つの主な問題点：

• 大きすぎる海
• 偏りすぎた/ランダムすぎたバイオームの配置
• 十分でない変化

これらの問題のための解決方法

• 巨大な海を避けるために、もっと島を追加しチェックを微調整する。
• まずバイオームを4つのメインカテゴリーに配置する：豪雪（雪に覆われた）、寒冷、中間、乾燥/温暖。隣接して置かれるバイオーム同士が異なりすぎるのを避けるようにした（時々まだ極端なバイオームの変化が発生するが、今はそこらじゅうで発生するわけではなく、とても稀にしか起きないようになった。）
• 新しいバイオーム群を追加（気候区分を全部網羅するような雰囲気）
• そして、ほとんどのバイオームは　非共通/希少 のバリエーションを持つ
• また新しい花や木などの新しい地形群も追加した

Mojang は今年で3回目となる MINECONを開催するようです。チケットは既に売切れてしまっているようですが、去年同様 Live stream なども予定さているようです。

PS4 のローンチタイトルであるだけでなく、Minecraft が PS3 と Vita でも PS4 と同時にリリースされるという内容を Notch がツイッターで呟いていたとか。Xbox では既にリリースされており、爆発的な売り上げを記録しているだけに、PS 勢が若干後れを取った印象は否めないが、Minecraft というゲームの日本での購入方法の敷居の高さを考えると、PS3, PS4 での minecraft 発売で日本においても低年齢層へ爆発的に普及する可能性も出てきているんではないかと思う。

以前、スクリーンショットの扱いなどの話で取り上げた内容が少し変化していたので、改めて紹介。

■新しい Terms of Use

Any tools you write for the game from scratch belongs to you. Other than commercial use (unless specifically authorized by us in our brand and assets usage guidelines – for instance you are allowed to put ads on your YouTube videos containing Minecraft footage), you’re free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don’t just rip art resources and pass them around, that’s no fun. Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don’t sell them for money. We reserve the final say regarding what constitutes a tool/plugin and what doesn’t.

■内容変化

スクリーンショットや動画の扱い

内容の変化はそれほど大きくはありません。商用利用でなければ、ゲームのスクリーンショットや動画については相変わらず自由に出来るようです。若干の変化している部分としては商用利用の禁止ですが、これも穏やかな規制と見ていいと思います。youtube に広告付きで動画を上げるのは認められると例示がされています。おそらく企業とかがコラボもしてないのに勝手に使うのは嫌だというような意味合いの項目だと思います。ただし、リソースから絵を取り出して使うのはダメ。ロゴや名前の扱いに付いては別のページでガイドラインが作られているようです。

最近大いに話題になった The Last of Us だろうが 主戦場の PC から離れた XBOX だろうが、そんな事はもはや Minecraft の前には関係なかったらしい。

6週に渡ってイギリスの週間小売チャートを独走していたNaughty Dogの新作「The Last of Us」ですが、先ほどGfK調べによる7月21日週のUKセールスチャートが発表され、イギリスで6月末に発売を迎えたリテール版「Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition」がセールで販売が急増し、遂に“The Last of Us”を抑え首位を獲得したことが明らかになりました。

Minecraft の Launcher のバージョンが 1.1.1 へアップデートしていた。アップデート内容は “Improved UI” と書かれていたので、ユーザーインターフェースの強化だと思われる。実際にランチャーの見た目は 1.0.10 と少し変化している。

Minecraft.net でプレーするときに Java がブロックされてしまう事があるようだったので色々調べてみた。どうやら Java のバージョンの関係がありそう。最近も Java のセキュリティ上の問題などがニュースサイトに出ていましたが、新しいバージョンが出ているのでアップデートするといいかもしれません。特にブラウザに Firefox を使っている場合は古い java プラグインはブロックされ firefox 上で Minecraft を動かす時も java がブロックされているのでエラーを出してしまって動きません。理由が良く分からないけどブラウザ上だとエラーがでて Minecraft が動かせない人は Java のアップデートをすると動くかもしれません。ブロックされている場合は、下のような表示で mozilla から注意がされており、どんな問題でどれにどこでアップデートできるかなどが書かれています。

■定期的に発生する Java のセキュリティ上の問題

この問題は2012年の記事ですが同様な感じでセキュリティ上問題があるjavaは多数にブロックされているので、アップデートせず放置している人は問題が出ている可能性があります。ちなみに firefox でなくてもアップデートした方がいい場合の方が多いのでブロックされてない人でも定期的にアップデートした方がいいと思います。
