Minecraft 0.14.0 is out! Skin Pack, livestream and more!
Hey hey!
We’re happy to let you know that the first update of the year for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Beta Edition is now out! So what cool things are there? Let’s take a closer look!
Like previously talked about we got some nice additions for you Redstone builders and adventurers. Repeaters, maps and item frames among other things will help you in your building adventure and assist you making greater things, but be aware of the witches that may lure you into wrong paths…
We got a new skin pack out as well! Since we want you to build great things, we also want you to look great while doing so. These Redstone Specialists skins are inspired by the builds we’ve seen you create and I think they look great. We hope you’ll like them as well. The Artisan and Composer are free and if you’d like to buy the whole 15 skins it costs $1.99 (or equivalent).
With all these awesome things, we’re also inviting you to our livestream we’re having later today at 10 a.m PST (I think that is 19.00 here in Sweden). You will see the Minecraft developers Tommo, Daniel, Shoghi and Jason competing on a tricky Redstone puzzle map, made with today’s update. You’ll be able to catch the livestream on our YouTube and Twitch channels. Make sure you’re nice to the guys. The puzzles are supposed to make you think, so it can take a while for them to figure things out. If you’re up to the challenge you can download the map they’re going to play here (and mirror here: redstone_puzzle_map.zip)
So yeah, that’s it for now! In case you’re wondering where to get this electrifying game you can grab it on iOS App Store, Google Play, Amazon and the Windows Store.
Witches! Make sure you’re avoiding the splash potions they’re throwing at you! They can make you move slower or even poison you. Spooky stuff!
Armour dying. Tired of the usual look? Why not try the other 10 000 000 colours? Put your pants in the cauldron together with a dye and enjoy the new design!
Item frames. Show off your adventurous loot or put up one of your maps to remember the endless journeys.
Pumpkin and mob head hats. I know it is a bit early for Halloween, but at least now you can prepare properly! :)
And numerous bugs has been squashed, and unfortunately some have probably been sneaking in as well.

Watch the Pocket Edition devs go on a spooky journey
Hello!
Unless you’ve been hiding under a cobblestone block for the past few weeks, you’ll be aware that redstone is coming to Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta in the near future.
Redstone is a bit like Minecraft’s version of electrical circuitry. Though you can already make amazing builds in Minecraft: Pocket Edition and for Windows 10, redstone will provide opportunity to create actual devices, like rollercoasters, automated doors, and mob grinders. Players of the Java version of Minecraft have been using redstone for a long time now, and they’ve made things that even the cleverest of clever brains at Mojang couldn’t have predicted.
To show off just a few of the things that are possible with redstone, Shoghi and Daniel have taken on a spooky map created by our friends in Redmond, and recorded the results for your viewing pleasure. Watch the video below. Please be nice in the comments.
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta
Hello!
We have exciting news to share! A whole new version of Minecraft is on its way. This time, it’s for Windows 10 – Microsoft’s new swanky operating system that’s due for release on July 29th.
We’re calling it Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.
Just like the first release of Minecraft all those years ago, this version will develop and evolve over time with the help of your feedback. That’s why it has “Beta” in the title – because it’s not quite finished, and will become even more fun over time. Just like the other versions of Minecraft, all future updates will be free. We spoil you. We really do.
If you’re one of the 20 million(!) players who have the PC edition of Minecraft (referred to by techy people as the Java version) you’ll be able to download Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows 10 store for free. Other players can get it for the paltry price of $10 during the beta period (the length of which is still being decided).
Minecraft is available on Windows, Mac, Windows Phone, iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, and now, Windows 10. Not every version of Minecraft is exactly the same, but they all feature two distinct game modes – Creative and Survival – that cater to different types of players. All versions of Minecraft support multiplayer.
You’ll recognise some Pocket Edition features in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, along with potpourri of cool extras. Here are some highlights:
Craft, create, and explore online with up to seven friends playing Windows 10 Edition Beta, through local multiplayer or with your Xbox Live friends online.
Play online and local multiplayer with other Pocket Edition players thanks to a free update, due to arrive soon after launch.
Multiple control schemes! Switch between controller, touch, and keyboard controls with little to no effort!
Record and share gameplay highlights with built-in GameDVR.
Help shape the future of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta with our built player feedback mechanisms!
Chickens, zombies, pigs, boats, armed skeletons, potatoes, zombies, baby squids, enchantment tables, villagers, naked sheep, iron golems, potions, ghasts, pickaxes, carrots, and all the weird and wonderful goodness you’ve come to expect from Minecraft.
We hope you’re as excited as us for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta. It’s gonna be cool!
Thanks for reading!
Owen
