I’ve been getting a lot of questions about MINECON lately, because before this time last year everyone knew the date and location and ticket info for MINECON 2013. While we don’t have a set date for the next MINECON just yet, I wanted to let everyone know that it won’t be until some time in 2015. I’m shooting to have it in the spring in London!
While we’d love to do MINECON every year and it’s the only event we do as a company, we want to make sure we can give it the attention it needs, and that means that springtime next year will work best!
As soon as I have confirmed information it’ll be out there. We always announce as soon as we confirm with the venue and have a signed contract, but never before, because we want to make sure we can follow through with the event and we never want people to start planning to attend something that might not happen. So watch out for information in the coming months!
With some luck, this week may be the last week of 1.8 snapshots! We’re hoping to do a pre-release this Thursday if there are no major issues remaining in the snapshots by then. Please help us out by searching for issues on the bug tracker and voting up the ones that affect you!
It’s snapshot time. After last weeks snapshot, which did not include any changes at all, we decided to make this weeks snapshot a little bit more interesting. So we added tons of new features, all of them disguised as bugfixes.
Minecraft のスキンやマップ、セーブデータなどを投稿したりダウンロードしたり出来る便利サイト Planet minecraft で「Head into the Clouds」という Minecraft の建築コンテストが行われていたというニュース記事を見たので紹介。ユーザーが選ぶ仕組みのようで、建築コンテストの入賞者の動画もあるようなので並べてみる事に。
コメントがあったので Vita 版の Minecraft について調べて見た。取りあえず、Mojang 公式ページの情報では下のような事になっていたので、発売日は8月。つまり、そろそろ発売されるはず。ただし、これは恐らく海外の特に北米での販売になる可能性が高いので、日本語にローカライズして発売する場合は更に後になるはず。そこは注意してもらいたい。また、下で書いているクロスバイについても、基本的には欧州向けの内容のようなので、日本では違う形になる可能性が高い気がする。

This means everyone who has bought Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition from PSN will get it on Vita for free. Those fluent in Sony-speak might refer to the deal as “Cross-buy.”
これは、PSNからマインクラフト:プレーステーション3エディションを購入した全ての人がVita上で無料で手に入れられる事を意味している。これは、恐らくSony-speakで話されていた「Cross Buy(クロスバイ)」として扱われる。
We are working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment to look into ways to enable upgrade from the Blu-ray disc version of Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition to Minecraft: Playstation 3 and Vita. We’ll have more info on this closer to release.

We just released MCPE 0.9.5, another bugfix version for 0.9. This time, it may or may not be the last, but we hope so!
We found and squashed many nasty bugs still hiding in the very fabric on the game, so 0.9 should be now quite stable. Here are the bugs we fixed:
– (Android) fixed a really nasty bunch of problems caused by locking the device like freezing, crashing, corrupting the world and more
– (Android) fixed a bad graphics corruption issue (missing chunks, corrupted chunks and animals) that happened when switching away from the game
– fixed chunks not loading in multiplayer when the client device is slower than the server
– fixed a crash when loading flat worlds after updating from 0.9.0/2
– fixed a possible server crash when a player disconnects from a multiplayer world
– fixed a possible crash or corruption when playing in multiplayer as a client
– Fixed Bryce Mesa biome, now they actually spawn!
– fixed fountains’ water in strongholds
– (Fire TV) fixed missing textures
And we made a few tweaks, too:
– Players that have been placed at extreme heights by the respawn bugs are now placed back at y=130
– (Android) the game doesn’t waste battery power and really stops rendering now when in the background
– not getting stuck anymore in the “Looking for Server” screen if the server is full
– animals are never despawned, again
We’re starting to wind down our development cycle, and as such we’re now focusing on bug fixing for a smooth release. This weeks snapshot comes with a bunch of fixed bugs, some more optimization and only minimal featurecreep.

Rabbits have sounds!

The surface of the sun is no longer incorrectly made of cheese.
