[Bug MC-85884] – Lingering potion shows incorrect time values
Roar! That’s dragon for “Greetings, human. I like your face. Here’s a snapshot“.
This week’s snapshot brings a whole new type of potion, some smaller changes to existing potions, more changes to the Dragon fight mechanics (there’s a reason to respawn her now, and I do not apologize for making it so much harder), and a bunch of optimisations/bug fixes.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that we have not yet balanced the new (or existing) features. Things will either be completely overpowered or hilariously underpowered, so keep that in mind when playing with any new stuff!
Here are some of the notable changes:
Added new ‘lingering’ class of potions.
Told the dragon that you all called her funny names, so now she’s extra angry.
Optimisations! Bug fixes!
Looking into End Gateways may cause slight headaches.
Recalibrated the quantum intake regulator.
Searge also requested that you all know the following. I suspect he’s moonlighting as a litter pick.
It will be noticed if you throw your trash everywhere
It will also be noticed if you pick it up and keep your world clean
And these are some of the fixed bugs:
[Bug MC-82945] – UUID error: Tried to add entity with duplicate UUID spam
[Bug MC-83350] – Entities teleporting through a portal disappear instead of teleporting.
[Bug MC-83731] – Using /kill on the Ender Dragon doesn’t end the fight
[Bug MC-85288] – “Save World” and “Cancel” Button have been switched
[Bug MC-85382] – Attempting to use a spawn egg on a block thats out of range throws error
[Bug MC-85397] – Adult mobs spawned with mob eggs are “invalid”, they can’t be selected with @e
[Bug MC-85542] – Enderdragon can destroy end_portal and end_gateway blocks
UPDATE: this is actually changelog 0.12.0.1 not 0.12.1.0! Blame our silly number bot (who has now been recycled) for any confusion. The patch also includes x86/32-bit support, which wasn’t mentioned in our earlier post.
We’ve released a new version of Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta to improve functionality and fix some reported bugs & crashes.
Another week, another snapshot. We are currently focusing on getting all the new content that we have planned into the snapshots, but it will take a little time until we see it all there. This week we have spent some time laying down the ground work for better boss fight AI and upgrade paths between worlds, so we can do even cooler stuff in the following weeks’ snapshots.
Thanks to everyone who reported bugs for the snapshots last week. We were very eager to see how many problems are reported for the first snapshots in many months and we are positively surprised by the fact that we saw less problems than expected.
Here are some of the improvements since last week:
Improved Ender Dragon fight, now with more cowbell!
Better handling of using items in both the mainhand and offhand.
Some monsters have problems with their vision now, but we don’t have the time to code glasses for them.
Generic upgrade path for world saves, this is very technical internal stuff that you’ll only notice if it goes wrong, but it makes our lives easy.
Added a thing to the system with the values. Can’t be more specific, no spoilers.
And some bug fixes:
[Bug MC-48730] – Nametags still show while player is invisible and on team
[Bug MC-82833] – Shulker projectile follows player in spectator mode and creative mode
[Bug MC-84035] – Enderdragon can’t die unless perched on portal
[Bug MC-84078] – When fishing rod is cast, all fishing rods look like it was cast out to sea too
[Bug MC-84253] – almost all potion and tipped arrows are black
[Bug MC-84584] – Placing End Rod on End Rod sends “hslsdjfksdlk” to output log twice
We have released a new version of Minecraft, 1.8.8, to improve some functionality of Realms and fix some reported bugs & crashes.
This version is fully compatible with all previous 1.8 versions, but it is still highly recommend to update to 1.8.8 as soon as possible for both players and servers.
Notable bugs fixed:
[Bug MC-80817] – Server may not start in some environments
[Bug MC-81018] – Potential server crashing exploit
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta
Hello!
We have exciting news to share! A whole new version of Minecraft is on its way. This time, it’s for Windows 10 – Microsoft’s new swanky operating system that’s due for release on July 29th.
We’re calling it Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.
Just like the first release of Minecraft all those years ago, this version will develop and evolve over time with the help of your feedback. That’s why it has “Beta” in the title – because it’s not quite finished, and will become even more fun over time. Just like the other versions of Minecraft, all future updates will be free. We spoil you. We really do.
If you’re one of the 20 million(!) players who have the PC edition of Minecraft (referred to by techy people as the Java version) you’ll be able to download Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows 10 store for free. Other players can get it for the paltry price of $10 during the beta period (the length of which is still being decided).
Minecraft is available on Windows, Mac, Windows Phone, iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, and now, Windows 10. Not every version of Minecraft is exactly the same, but they all feature two distinct game modes – Creative and Survival – that cater to different types of players. All versions of Minecraft support multiplayer.
You’ll recognise some Pocket Edition features in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, along with potpourri of cool extras. Here are some highlights:
Craft, create, and explore online with up to seven friends playing Windows 10 Edition Beta, through local multiplayer or with your Xbox Live friends online.
Play online and local multiplayer with other Pocket Edition players thanks to a free update, due to arrive soon after launch.
Multiple control schemes! Switch between controller, touch, and keyboard controls with little to no effort!
Record and share gameplay highlights with built-in GameDVR.
Help shape the future of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta with our built player feedback mechanisms!
Chickens, zombies, pigs, boats, armed skeletons, potatoes, zombies, baby squids, enchantment tables, villagers, naked sheep, iron golems, potions, ghasts, pickaxes, carrots, and all the weird and wonderful goodness you’ve come to expect from Minecraft.
We hope you’re as excited as us for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta. It’s gonna be cool!
Thanks for reading!
