6月21日からコンソール版のマインクラフトで「バトルミニゲーム」(Battle mini game)というものが利用できるようになっていたらしい。対象になっていたのは Xbox, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita そして Wii Uで、無料アップデートがされたとか。

少し前に公式ブログで1億本突破というのが発表されたが、気になってちょっとし食べてみた所国内の売り上げも順調に伸びているらしく、PS Vita 版が国内の売り上げ100万本を突破していたらしい。

　カドカワは、PlayStation Vita「Minecraft： PlayStation Vita Edition」に関して、国内推定販売本数が100万本を突破したと発表した。

　推定値はファミ通調べによるもので、ダウンロード版とパッケージ版の合算値となる。推移としてはパッケージ版が堅調で、年末年始に大きく売上を伸ばし、発売から1年半で100万本を突破した。なおPS3版、PS4版を加えたプレイステーションプラットフォームでの合算値では164.5万本に達している。

任天堂の WiiU で動く「Minecraft: Wii U Edition」が12月17日（木）に発売されるらしい。任天堂からも発売された事で PS、XBOX、WiiU と主要な家庭用ゲーム機メーカーでは大体 Minecraft が動くようになった。

That’s a surprise, eh?* Anyway, now it’s 100% official. Minecraft is launching on Nintendo’s Wii U console on December 17th. It’ll cost $29:99 or equivalent, will be available to download on the eShop, and comes bundled with six of our most popular add-on packs. There’s even a Festive mash-up included just in time for the holidays.

We’ll be adding more content packs to Wii U Edition in the near future (Wa-hoo!), and updating the core game with free updates, just like our other platforms. As a quick reminder: all DLC packs are optional. You can have significant amounts of fun playing Minecraft without spending extra cash.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition will also feature off-TV play, so you can continue playing on the Gamepad when other people want to use the TV for less fun things like movies or other video games.

Greek Mythology mash-up pack arrives on console

What did the greeks ever do for us? They inspired another mash-up for Minecraft on console, that’s what.

Yes – now you can download 39 skins, a custom texture set, and a new UI, all inspired by Greek mythology of old. The pack gives you the chance to play as actual gods, including head honcho, Zeus, and fishy beardy man, Poseidon. Cool monsters like minotaurs and cyclopes also feature.

The pack also comes with greek-inspired music composed by Gareth Coker and an custom map of awesome scale for you to explore alone, or with your buddies.

最近スキンの変え方について質問がきていたけど、ゲーム機の場合は、PC版と違って、こういうスキンパックによってスキンを変更することが出来る。スキンパックはPSNやXBOXマーケットプレイスで販売されている。スキンなどの扱いはゲーム機とPC版では違っているので注意して欲しい。

Microsoft が Mojang を買収してから暫くたつけど、Windows 10 に関するお報せらしい。Windows のバージョンアップでは毎回承認などの関係で色々なソフトが動かなくなる事があるが Minecraft は Microsoft が買収したおかげでその点に関しては心配なさそうだ。逆に Minecraft にサポートが期待できるかもしれない。

We’re calling it Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.

Just like the first release of Minecraft all those years ago, this version will develop and evolve over time with the help of your feedback. That’s why it has “Beta” in the title – because it’s not quite finished, and will become even more fun over time. Just like the other versions of Minecraft, all future updates will be free. If you’re one of the 20 million(!) players who have the PC edition of Minecraft (referred to by techy people as the Java version) you’ll be able to download Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows 10 store for free. Other players can get it for the paltry price of $10 during the beta period (the length of which is still being decided).

Minecraft is available on Windows, Mac, Windows Phone, iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, and now, Windows 10. Not every version of Minecraft is exactly the same, but they all feature two distinct game modes – Creative and Survival – that cater to different types of players. All versions of Minecraft support multiplayer.

勝手な感想

最近の公式ブログからは、以前の記事ではなかった雰囲気が少し感じられる。前と違って少し皮肉っぽいし、最近は無料アップデートをことさら無料だとアピールしてる。ちょっと皮肉った感じで。

アップデートに関してはちょっと内容が読み取りにくい。単純な windows 10 への対応だけならば Java が動くだけで単純に動かせると思うので、あえて Windows 10 Edition としているのは何か別の意図がありそう。中身が全面的に書き換わっているとか Java から脱出しているとか、そういうことなのかな？

Java Free という噂はあるものの、そうだとすると MOD とかはどうなるのだろう。MOD は大きな問題だ。Notch の時代もそうだったのだけど今から見るとベータが完成してから追加されたアップデートの90%は正直必要ないアップデートだったんじゃないかとすら思う。いや、ひょっとしたらアルファの段階でもう後は必要なかったかもしれない。なぜならある時点以降からは公式に導入する前にほとんど同じものが既に MOD で作られていたから。 Notch が作ったのはゲームというより自由な開発者やプレイヤーのコミュニティとプラットフォームだったんだと思う。そしてプレイヤーが勝手にアップデートしていた。この Minecraft のコア部分をどうするのかはかなり気になる所だ。

2014年の夏ごろからは小学生を中心とした低年齢層からも支持されているという。子供向けのイベント「次世代ワールドホビーフェア ’15 Winter」（関連記事）でも，試遊待ちの待機時間が150分になるなど，圧倒的な人気ぶりを示したのだそうだ。

　ちなみにプラットフォームのなかではPlayStation Vita版の人気が目立つとのことで，1月26日時点で20万本の販売を達成したとのこと。実際，次世代ワールドホビーフェア ’15 Winter開催時のアンケートでも，スマートフォンに次いでPlayStation Vitaが，“Minecraftをプレイしたこのデバイス”として上位に位置している。
